According to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), you are not restricted in how much money you bring with you in or out of Canada, but you will have to report to a border services officer if the amounts of money or foreign currency you bring in or out of Canada are equal to or more than CAD $10,000. This applies to all travellers, couriers and to people carrying money on behalf of someone else.
However, bitcoins are not considered as currency or monetary instruments by the CBSA, but rather as intangible property. Therefore, you do not need to declare them when you enter or leave Canada, as long as you do not convert them into cash or other forms of money.
However, you may still have to pay taxes on any capital gains or losses from your bitcoins, depending on how you acquired or disposed of them. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) treats bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies as commodities, and any transactions involving them are subject to the rules of barter transactions. You can find more information on how to report your income and expenses from bitcoins on the CRA website.
Thank you so much for your precious information!
